Queen Merla
About Merla
Merla is Queen of the Seventh Kingdom in the empire, and she's a ruthless
conqueror in her own right. She's the only one here on Doom with lower
seniority than me, but she gets more respect because, well, she's a queen.
That and she hits on Zarkon a lot and is married to his son, so that gives her
some leeway to act like the royal pain that she is. Even though you have
to respect someone as efficient and ruthless at conquering as she is, she's also
very high on herself, to the point that more than once I've been tempted to go
up behind her and yank her braid and put her in her place.
She's pretty powerful, being that she has a kingdom of her own, and here on Doom she has her star-cutter and a fleet of creepy little dwarflings at her command. The dwarflings get on my nerves, but I admit they're fun to get drunk in Castle Doom's bar sometimes because they're small enough to punt around. Merla also has telepathic powers that enable her to read minds and project her will on people. She does this to Zarkon all the time, but unfortunately he doesn't get it because she's too busy hitting on him and brownnosing for him to notice. (By the way, this does not endear her to Haggar at all.) Additionally, Merla has a pet vulture that she talks to that can also sense when anyone is thinking something nasty about Merla. When Merla has PMS, that bird is pretty busy trying to avenge his mistress, let me tell ya.
Last but not least, Merla went through this phase where she decided she had to be good and made friends with the Voltron Force. Under orders from King Zarkon, we don't talk about that though.
