Season One, Episode Thirty Three - “Attack of the Fierce Frogs”

Doom Log File Title: The Frog Beasts (Cossack’s Note: How boring, but that’s Mogor for you. I’d have called it “Tadpoles of Terror” myself.)
Summary: Haggar presents Lotor with a tank full of tadpole robeasts that they release in the waters on Arus. Some kids find some, and meet up with Pidge, who helps him take them home. He then takes a few back to the Castle of Lions. Shortly afterward the tadpoles mature and begin attacking, starting with a ship called the Altea. They also attack the family Pidge made friends with, but he shows up and saves them before flying off to join the rest of the team to vaporize the frogs at sea. Just as they’re patting themselves on the back for squashing a few nasty backyard amphibians with their spaceships, Lotor drops a full size robeast on them. They form Voltron and Pidge manages to flood his lion, so Lotor focuses the fire upon him. Voltron takes more of a beating, so they flood Voltron completely to “equalize the pressure” and fix it. (Cossack’s Note: Science wasn’t my best subject, but if the water pressure can crush metal, why the hell didn’t we have a Pidge pancake when it came inside? I feel gypped!) Before you know it, Voltron’s back in action, the BS saves the day, and Lotor leaves blaming Haggar for it all.
Notable Doom Highlights: Zarkon starts this whole thing off ripping Lotor a new one, complete with throwing a goblet at his head. I have a good arm! Lotor also gets in a few zingers poking fun at the Voltron Force before the tadpoles mutate into three-eyed froggies of fear.
Notes: With helpful pals like Pidge, Arusian children don’t need enemies. First he brings a pondful of robeasts into their house and then saves them by torching their front lawn by spilling gas and firing on it. I guess the parents never heard about the little girl he sent into a hostage situation in his place, or they might advise their kids to pick a better class of friends. Also, the “Altea” is another name for “Arus” in an older dialect from their world called Golionese. And they say we don’t teach anything educational here on Doom!
