Chapter
Four: Mission to a Lost Time
Time and Place
Unknown
“What do you wish of me, my masters?” a weakened voice demanded.
“Listen. There is a way to ensure a world under your complete power. Look in the pool.”
The shrouded figure stepped forward and glanced into the swirling waters. They parted and a vision appeared. A girl with long blond pigtails and ‘dumplings’ on her head appeared. She lifted a locket and a light blazed from a white gem inside. It grew in size and power. Soon the blaze could even be seen from outer space.
“This is the Silver Crystal and the Princess of the White Moon: Princess Serenity.”
“What does this mean to me, ancient ones?” he sneered. “A girl with bad hair and a white gem? What can she do against me?”
“Silence!” the voiced boomed. The figure grew silent and shuddered in anger. “You should have learned by now that you should NEVER underestimate an enemy. Even that troll Luna knows that much. This ‘white gem’ and ‘girl with bad hair’ have defeated countless adversaires as strong as ourselves. Because she knows teamwork. This gem is one of the three things you need to secure this world.”
“Then what are the other two?”
“The eye which you have failed to secure by now. And one last thing: a pure heart crystal.”
“A pure heart crystal?”
“yes, the purenest of a person’s heart in solid form. But once taken out, if the crystal is not returned the person dies. Combining this three together will give you the ultimate power. The ability to erase people’s hopes.”
“Erase hopes? What good will that do for me?”
“because people who have no hopes are easy to control and whoever has control has power.”
The figure waited.
“But,” the voices continued. “The Silver Crystal is in another time. You must bring the girl to this time.”
“As you wish, ancient ones.” The figure bowed in submission and began to chant in a forgotten tongue…
Tokyo, Japan
“Whoa! Wicked cool!” Minako kept turning the wand over in her hands. No matter which angle she turned it, the symbol of Venus looked the same. Haruka and the others were sitting down. Minako finally just sat on the floor. The outers (at least the older ones) sighed.
Suddenly, Mirchiru’s mirror flashed.
“Danger!” she said and then finished. “Downtown near the arcade. Some kind of blackness appeared in the sky and these shadowlike creatures are attacking the people.”
“Well,” Haruka said as she stood. “Let’s go outers.”
“hey!” Minako rejected. “We can come too!”
Haruka had her hand on her wand and almost snapped at her. But then saw the anger and desperation in her eyes. The inners looked up to them she knew. But something was bugging her about this mission. Danger toward the younger senshi, she thought. Still…
“Okay,” she finally said. “Why don’t you guys go ahead and we’ll serve as backup?”
“Cool!” Minako shouted. She leapt to her feet along with the others.
“Well then,” Mirchiru saidm hiding a smile with her left hand. “Transform!”
“Okay!” Minako muttered to Usagi. “Some people are just so darn impatient.”
“Venus Cosmic Power!”
Unlike her other transformation this time, the stick of the wand vanished, leaving only the yellow gem. It flew to the center of her forehead and twin strips of gold formed her tiara. Stars flew in twin spirals around her torso and then exploded with light, forming her leotard. Two more extended to form elongated stars connected to her leotard. They spun around at a high speed and eventually formed her skirt. Two more flew to her feet and melted into her skin. With a final burst of light, SupremeSailorVenus stepped forward.
Her uniform had shifted considerably. Her leotard was still white but instead of a bow and a heart shaped broach, she had the symbol of Venus in the center, right between her breasts and translucent ribbons hung from the bottom in a straight line until it met her skirt. Her skirt was now double layered. The lower skirt was a dark yellow color, almost gold. The top however was a light translucent yellow layer with silver glitter throughout the whole thing. Her shoes were pretty much the same except a star was at the top. The last thing she noticed was that her collar was now white with the symbol of Venus in the center and she now had no sleeves.
The other soldiers gaped at her for more than a moment. Then the others quickly raised their wands.
“Mars Cosmic Power!”
Unlike Venus’ transformation, Mars started at her feet. Fire rose from the ground around her and coated her feet forming her high heels. The difference was the same as Venus except she had the mark of her planet at the tops. Next came her skirt. Fire spread from her waist and then retracted leaving behind her double layered skirt. It was red while Venus’ was yellow. But everything else was the same. Then her skirt flew up and then back down. Her torso was now coated with fire. It vanished leaving behind her leotard. Finally her stick vanished and the gem flew to her forehead forming her tiara. Everything that was yellow on Venus was red on Mars. A star of fire erupted from behind her and then SupremeSailorMars stepped forth.
“Jupiter Cosmic Power!”
Unlike the others, Jupiter’s hensin sequence was fairly short. Lightning shot from the ground and formed into circles. There ended up being three. One went to her head, one to her waist and one to her feet. As the circles at her head and legs began to slowly shoot upward, the ring at her waist began to spin. When the three rings merged there was a flash of light and then SupremeSailorJupiter became visible.
“Mercury Cosmic Power!”
Winds of ice blew past Mercury’s chest and left behind her leotard. The winds then died and ice coated her feet. Then it melted. Her footwear had changed drastically. She now wore blue flats. Atop them near the toe was a snowflake. The winds suddenly blew up again and spun around her waist. Her skirt appeared and then finally her gem connected to her forehead and her tiara appeared. SupremeSailorMercury stepped through the blowing winds.
All the inner soldiers looked the same except for small changes in signs and the color. But Usagi hadn’t transformed yet.
“Silver Moon Cosmic Power!”
Twin rainbows dropped from the sky and twirled around her. One wrapped itself around her torso and glowed deep red. Then it turned into her leotard which was a deep white. Silver ribbons hung from a silver heart broach in the center of her chest. The colors left from the rainbow dropped from her leotard and spun. When they stopped she had a three layered skirt. The bottom was white. The second was a beautiful silver. The top layer was clear with stars and crescent moons of a lighter silver. The second rainbow dropped down over her and some colors coated her feet. They exploded into multi colored hearts. They left behind silver flats with light silver straps lacing up to her knees where they joined on each leg at a silver crescent moon. Finally there was a burst of silver light and CelestialSailorMoon walked forward. She had no tiara but the gems on her dumplings had colored to a light silver and white. Instead of a band of gold, in the middle of her forehead was a silver crescent moon. Her broach was resting inbetween her breasts.
“Well girls!” Sailormoon said. “Let’s book it!”
And with that the five younger girls tore outside. The outers looked at each other and nodded.
“Uranus Cosmic Power!”
Outers’ transformations were swift. The mark of Uranus lit up on her forehead and rays of light shot from it. When they died away, there stood SupremeSailorUranus. The only difference in uniform besides the color was that her tiara was silver. Her skirt was dark navy blue on the top and bright white on the bottom. Her ribbons on her torso were silver and hung from an orange symbol of Uranus. Finally her shoes, which were wrinkled blue boots had been evened out and now reached halfway up her shin.
“Neptune Cosmic Power!”
The gem formed her tiara swiftly and then lit up. Blue rays formed into waves that crashed over her body and wrapped around her legs, torso, and arms. Her ribbons were silver and her mark of Neptune was aquamarine. The bottom of her skirt was white. The top was translucent blue green. Her shoes, which were sea green heels with several laces had only been given Neptune signs on the laces. With a final crash of water, SupremeSailorNeptune appeared.
“Pluto Cosmic Power!”
A huge clock appeared in front her and she almost seemed to enter it. She spun around as the clock’s hands spun around. When both hit the twelve there was a bright flash and there was SupremeSailorPluto. Her skirt’s bottom layer was white and the top a forest green. The ribbons on her torso were silver but the mark of Pluto was mauve not green. Her shoes, which were dark green boots had shrunk and were now only ankle length. She lifted her hand and the Key of Time flashed into her hands.
“Saturn Cosmic Power!”
Black ribbons exploded from the ground and wrapped over her chest forming her leotard. Her ribbons were silver while the mark of Saturn was a deep violet. She did a hand stand and black ribbons twirled around her feet forming her violet laceup boots. They reached her knees and the one difference was that now the laces were black. She stood straight again and spun. A flash of black shot from her waist and then dulled to the violet color of her skirt. The bottom was still white but the top was light violet. The ribbons in front of her pulled over hide her face and then parted. Her tiara was completely formed now. There stoood SupremeSailorSaturn. She lifted her hand and whispered, “Silence Glaive.” Her blade appeared. After grabbing her weapon she followed the other outers after the inners.
* * *
The monsters appeared relentlessly, one after the other. The inner soldiers fought but as much as they tried, they began to wish they’d let the outers do this. They were supposed to be off! They had drawn their weapons, Mars’ Bow of Fire, Mercury’s Harp of Ice, Venus’ Chain of Love, Jupiter’s wreath of lightning, and SailorMoon had discovered that she now had the Spiral Heart Moon Rod back. Unlike before however, the red heart at the top had shifted to be mostly red with sploches of different colors throughout it. Also the attack that used to drain her, Rainbow Moon Heart Ache now was her usual attack. It easily destroyed individual monsters. But the whole of them was too great. There were just too many!
“Rainbow…” Sailor Moon bravely swung her rod and began to spin around.
“Moon…Heart Ache!”
At the final word, the leader of the soldiers dropped to her knees and lifted her rod high over her head. The small slit in the middle of the multicolored heart widened and clear ribbons tore from her rod. The small pink hearts within them did the real damage. As the ribbons crashed into her opponent, they vanished. Her enemy screamed. Suddenly the middle of their body nearly became transparent and she saw her ribbons spinning around. Then all at once they tore from the creature’s body and ripped out, killing the monster immediately.
Mars took out her bow.
“Mars!” she let the flames rise from her hands, forming her arrow. She slipped the flame into the string of her bow and leveled it at her oppenent. The creature looked like a random shadow but was tearing lots of things apart. She closed one eye and took her aim, carefully.
“Flame!”
The edge of her arrow lit up and she never took her eyes from her enemy. Uranus had taught her that. “It makes the battle easier if you concentrate on one thing. But always keep your guard up and your ears open. The minute you let your guard down, you go down.”
“Sniper!”
At the final words, the soldier of flames released her arrow. It cut straight through the being’s stomach. The shadow gasped in pain and then shriveled into nothing. Mars turned her eyes to another and prepared to release her attack again.
Mercury looked around and fixed her eyes on her target. It was a smaller shadow but one close enough for her to hit but with the way she was standing, she would be in its blind spot. She took up her Harp of Ice.
“Mercury!”
Immediately, the strings of her harp began to shimmer with the color of ice. She held her fingers just above the strings.
“Aqua Rhapsody!”
Even before she finished, she began to strum the strings. Jets of icy water split from her harp and charged forward. The shadow demon only had time to gasp before the ice jet ripped through its body, killing it on contact.
Jupiter herself was having enough trouble. Two demons had her surrounded and were hovering over her, shooting lightning at her. The Soldier of Storm laughed.
“Well, if that’s how you wanna play this game…”
“Jupiter!”
Green light began to appear on her forehead, near her tiara. She slowly began to spin.
“Oak!”
The sparklets of light now reformed into small oak leaves. Although they looked harmless, each one held more volts of electricity in them than twenty miles of electric wires. She smiled.
“Evolution!”
At that word, she spun faster and the leaves began to fly from her tiara hitting both of her targets with the same force. They shrieked in pain and shock before disappearing. The tall senshi smirked.
“Looks like I win..”
Venus narrowed her eyes. She very slowly lifted a charm from her subspace pocket. Every soldier had a subspace pocket, which was an empty pocket of space, invisible to the eye where all their weapons were kept. She said slowly,
“Venus!”
Glitter floated up from the charm and coated her lips. She kissed her hand and a small yellow heart floated high above her hand. She flung it.
“Love and Beauty Shock!”
The small heart increased in size until it was nearly as big as she was tall. It rammed into her target and they vanished from sight.
The battle carried on. One by one, the shadows either were killed or disappeared from fear.
When it seemed they were all gone, the inners gathered together, trying to regain their strength.
“What, in the world was that about?” Mars demanded as soon as they were together. The rest of the group immediately turned to Mercury. Mercury sighed and pulled out her minicomputer. She couldn’t find out where they came from but she could analyize if there were anymore. She scanned for a moment and then narrowed her eyes severally.
“Mercury?” Jupiter stepped closer to her and looked at her critically. “What is it?”
“I’m not sure. There seems to be a sporadic magnitude of vigor specifically above us. I don’t know what it is or where it came from but it’s escalating in power and strength. I don’t think-“
“Japanese, Ami-chan.”
“There’s a large amount of energy right above us that’s increasing in power. I don’t think it’s good. In fact, I get very negative vibes from it.”
“Great.” The whole of the group looked up.
“I…I don’t see anything, Ami-chan.” Sailor Moon stammered. Now even she was getting very uneasy feelings. She muttered mostly to herself. “I wish the outers would show up.”
As soon as she said this, a clap of thunder made her shriek. She clutched Jupiter and then relaxed. She looked at the Soldier of Storm with a beet-red face and stumbled,
“Sorry.”
But Jupiter didn’t mind. She was watching the sky with wide eyes. Sailor Moon followed her glance. In the center of the sky, the winds began to swirl and form a circle of black space. The Leader of the Senshi grabbed Jupiter’s arm again and swallowed hard.
“What the hell is that?” Jupiter asked no one in particular.
No one could answer her.
Then like a hand from the sky, a ray of black light shot down and covered them all.
“W..what?” Sailor Moon looked around nervously. She felt a wave of energy near her and shireked again. But before she could even finish her shriek she realized she was no longer touching the ground.
“Sailor Moon!” Jupiter leapt and caught her leader’s arm. But now the power just increased and began to draw both of the soldiers in. Mercury caught Jupiter’s leg as she was pulled toward the sky. She dug her heels into the earth but to no evail. Mars grabbed her shoulders to help but was merely pulled up as well. Venus grabbed Mars’ elbow with one hand and a post with the other. Her small strength did stop them from going any further but she felt the power increase almost immediately. So she she did the only other thing she could think of. The others quickly did the same.
“Outers! Help us!”
* * *
“Uranus?” Neptune grabbed the senshi of the sky’s hand. Uranus turned.
“What?”
“Don’t you think we should go help the inners anyway?”
“Nah, I think they can handle it. Besides, they’ll get mad if we interfer when we promised we wouldn’t except if they needed us.”
The soldier of the sea sighed. “I know. But lately I worry about them a lot. I mean, I KNOW they can fight. I’ve seen them do it. But-“
“Say no more,” Uranus said lifting her palm up. “You care about them. That IS okay you know.”
The girl smiled. “Yeah I know.”
Saturn stepped forward to the two suddenly. Her eyes were wide.
“Saturn?”
The soldier of destruction looked at Neptune. “I think they need help.”
Uranus rose an eyebrow at her. “You think so? I just don’t want a glare from them. Ooo, if looks could kill…”
This got a small laugh from the others but then their laughs died swiftly when Venus’ voice pierced the air.
“Outers! Help us!”
That was all they needed. The soldiers of time, sea, sky, and destruction took off running as fast as they could.
* * *
Venus screamed until her throat was dry. Then, she screamed again as she felt her hand begin to slip off. The others called down to her.
“Venus! Don’t let go!”
Venus felt a panic overtake her and she screamed again as she lost her grip.
But suddenly, she felt a hand on her wrist and she met the eyes of Uranus.
“Hang on guys.” Uranus tugged hard and Neptune was tugging at the others hands while Pluto and Saturn helped as well. Uranus felt her feet begin to slip. She’d never felt a force so strong and struggled to keep her composure. She tried even harder when those bright blue eyes of Venus met hers again and she stammered,
“I’m afraid. I’m afraid.”
“You’re a senshi!” Uranus shrieked from instinct. “Don’t be scared!”
As soon as she said that and saw the fear and tears in Venus’ eyes, she mentally slapped herself. The last thing the girl needed was someone telling her that in this situation she wasn’t allowed to be afraid. She was blunt, a trait about herself she hated. But she was also struggling to hide her tears as felt the Soldier of Love’s hand begin to slip through her fingers.
“Don’t leave me!” Venus shrieked as she felt herself slipping. “Don’t leave us!”
“ I won’t! I won’t!” Uranus hissed digging her nails into Venus’ gloves. But despite she was the strongest of the soldiers, she wasn’t stronger than this.
Venus’ hand slipped from hers and the inners and Princess went sailing into the sky.
“Minna! Minna! MINNA!”
Uranus fell to her knees and shrieked to the black sky.
“Damn you! Damn You! DAMN YOU!”
But her shouts met nothing and tears clouded her vision as her younger friends were sucked into a ruthless void.
