Crossed Time Lines
A Thundercats/Sailor Moon Crossover
“Rei, will you emerge sometime this
century?”
The soldier of fire sighed at
Yuuichirou. He stood behind her, a look of worry in his eyes. Rei smiled at him
faintly. She had not told anyone yet but she secretly had agreed to go steady
with Yuuichirou. She smiled and Yuuichirou handed her a ribbon and slowly,
reluctantly smoothed her dark black hair behind her shoulders. He tickled the
purple highlights and smiled. Rei grinned sheepishly and said in a soft voice,
“Arigato, Yuuichirou,”
He was shocked. She hadn’t said,
“Yuuichirou-chan,”
Then before Rei could say something
snide, he departed.
Rei turned back to the fire. Her
deep violet eyes lit up faintly with a red glow. Then suddenly a wave of
dizziness hit her with the strength of one of Uranus’ attacks. She fumbled
through her kimono and finally reached her hidden pocket where she kept her
communicator. She pressed the “all-call” for the inner Senshi and stammered
out,
“Minna, the temple. Danger…”
Then she passed out.

Hotaru ran into her house with
Haruka following with Michiru. She was finally off from school and swiftly ran
upstairs to drop off her backpack. Haruka and Michiru watched her and smiled.
Hotaru always looked forward to he last day, a little more than she should
have. But the teasing she got from others caused that. No matter how nice she
proved herself to be, the strange gift she possessed, the ability to heal with
a touch, drove her peers away.
The two older girls went into the
kitchen to make an afternoon snack for their little girl. Although not theirs
by birth they loved her as any natural parents would. Haruka loved her not as a
mother would but as a mother and a father. The fact that she acted like a
father to the girl earned her, her nickname: Haruka-papa. She looked like a
father in her appearance. Her sandy blond hair was cut very short and barely
reached past her ears. Her deep hazel eyes were older, more experienced, but
they were kind. She was still ruthless if she needed to be but was willing to
try and find another way. The Inner Senshi had taught her that.
Michiru acted as a mother to the
girl and earned her, her own nickname from Hotaru, Mirchiru-mama. The soldier
of the ocean showed her powers in her appearance alone. Her hair was silky and
a dep aqua blue. The same shade was in her eyes. She often wore a violet dress
unlike Haruka who opted for men’s clothing. Even now, she was wearing a man’s
yellow dress jacket, a green shirt, and yellow slacks, unlike Mirchiru who wore
a white skirt and light purple top.
Just as Mirchiru placed a plate of
crackers and some chips on the tables she heard that familiar voice call,
“Mirchiru-mama! Haruka-papa!”
The two adults looked at each other
with worried expressions. Mirchiru took off first but Haruka quickly overpassed
her, being soldier of the wind. The two adults found Hotaru not in her own room
but in Mirchiru’s. She was sitting on the ground and staring at her lap,
wordlessly.
Then, suddenly the girl turned
around and faced them, her eyes wide and afraid.
Haruka walked closer as Mirchiru
waited at the door. The older girl was always tall to Hotaru but now she seemed
like a giant. In a sense, she was, being the tallest of the senshi at 5’8 but
her eyes were kind. She knelt by the girl and smoothed her raven black hair.
The girl’s hair slipped through Haruka’s fingers and came to a rest at her
chin. She clutched her ‘papa’s’ shirt desparetly. Tears spilled from her deep
violet eyes and stained her cheeks.
Hotaru wiped away her tears with a black sleeve. She climbed into her
parent’s lap and let the soldier of sky cuddle her.
Haruka looked down at the girl in
her lap. The Fates were unfair on the child. No one should hold the power of
death on their shoulders let alone a little girl but it was her destiny. She
was SailorSaturn, the soldier of death and rebirth. Clutching the senshi of
destruction close to her chest, Haruka rose and carried her out into the light.
As soon as the light touched her face, Hotaru opened up.
“Mirchiru-mama! What kind of danger
is coming?!”
“What do you mean, Hime-chan?” she
asked, her deep eyes wide with worry.
“I…I was walking by your room in the
way downstairs and I heard a crash. I…I went in and I saw…I saw…”
“Shh,” haruka clutched her tighter.
“What is it? What did you see?”
The girl said nothing but took
something away from her chest and held it out. It was Mirchiru’s mirror. The
mirror that had been one the three talismans that powered up their Princess. The
mirror that warned of danger and that saw the truth through any disguise.
The glass was cracked.
Mirchiru took her mirror from her
‘daughter’ and stared at it as if not comprehending. Hotaru clutched her parent
tighter. Then a faint glow began to vibrate from the child. As both adults
turned to look at her, Hotaru looked up and into Haruka’s eyes. Her own deep
violet eyes had gone pale. But that wasn’t what alerted them. In center of her
forehead, brighter than a star, was the mark of Saturn. It was deep violet and
in the shape of a lowercase ‘h’ only a swirled line wiped across the long line
acrhing upward. She said softly in a tranced voice,
“Danger, the darkness is coming to
both worlds.”
Then as if to prove her point, a
clap of thunder sounded and when the adults looked out the window, Saturn
appeared in the sky for a brief moment.
Saturn,
The Planet of Death.
