Ever wonder why there was so  much animosity between the Thunderians and Mutants? The Thundercats show portrayed the Mutants as pirates and raiders who were after the power in the Sword of Omens/Eye of Thundera. This tale goes deeper than that.

The blue-green and white planet below was peaceful beneath its many moons above. Animal creatures in their native habitats were interactive in their biodiversity. These animals were peaceful and sometimes savages. They acted on impulse as they struggled for survival. Many of these creatures separated from their original tribes/clans and evolved into new species, thus adapting to brand new environments and developing new abilties for survival.

Eons later, these creatures began to change, evolving into intelligent species. Soon, this world had creatures that looked as if they were part human and part animal. Although these creatures were gaining some form of humanity, they still had their animal natures of peacefulness and savagery. Every animal species that we could think of existed here. Cities and and societies were built. Laws and government were created. Religon and science came about. Like every society, wars will be fought over petty and major disagreements. Empires were forged. This planet was destined to become the basis of an intergalactic empire. Many of the native beings were destined to live this world and move on to other things. There were no humans on this world, only animal/mammalian creatures.

This unnamed planet became a Warlord Empire that was starting to extend its boundaries to the far reaches of space. This planet became known only as Plundar. The Plundarian people were also known as Mutants. The Mutants, over time, achieved vast knowledge in science, technology, atomic power, and space flight. They were known as fearsome raiders due to their raiding of other worlds. The Mutants allied with worlds that had similar causes and interests and traded with them. The Plundarian Empire was run by Warlords and their second in command generals. One had to show the heart of a warrior, be ambitious, and prove themselves worthy of Warlordship. Many Mutant Warlords came into power by assassination of rivals, treachery, and dark ambitions. Representatives of all Plundarian races served on the Plundarian Council. Though the Warlord had absolute  power over the rest, the council basically existed as advisors.

There were beings on Plundar who began to evolve further and move away from their savage ways to become pacifists. One such species were the cat-people, who were known as the most vicious and deadliest of all the Plundarian races. The cat-people had served on the Mutant Empire for eons. There have even been Warlords who were of the cat-people.  The catpeople were some of the most dangerous warrior  raiders in the solar system. These cat-people looked very much like there
animal ancestors did before evolving any further.

As many more eons passed, the cat-people began evolving into more humanlike  creatures with human features. These were the homo-felines. They no longer thought of themselves as Mutants, although they still thought of themselves as native Plundarians.  The other Plundarian races noticed the changes in the cat-people and became jealous of them. As the cat-people continued to evolve, the more intelligent and advanced they became. They even had attractive appearances.  The cat-people
began to separate from the other Plundarians, who began to take precautions. There were still cat-people serving in the Empire who wanted to change the ways of government and strive for peace and justice. the other Mutant creatures felt threatened as other species went along with the cat-peoples' beliefs.

The cat-people withdrew from the Plundarian Empire to establish their own system of just and civilized government. They constantly found themselves the targets of the Mutant Empire. To seccede from the Empire was treason, treachery, and traitorous. Those three qualities were aspects that the Empire didn't stand for. The cat-people who were still in governement used their positions to get what they needed for their fellow felines. The Mutant Warlord Goatian as well as others within the Empire felt that all Plundarians had what they had by means of the Empire's achievements. To turn their back on the Empire meant death; and the Plundarians were out to take back everything the cat-people had gained through government. Warlord Goatian said that since the cat-people didn't want to be part of governement, he'll take back everything they had and exterminate them. The peace-loving cat-people of Plundar found their peaceful natures constantly interrupted by war with the Empire.

Thun, a lion-man, who served on the Plundarian Council led his felines in the war  against the Empire. He was a very well respected, individual, as well as a valiant fighter, combat strategist, and scientific genius. After a battle with the Mutants, he and his white-tiger-man friend found an unusual substance in the ground. This substance was a white diamond-crystalline substance with metallic and organic properties.  Thun worked hard in his palace lab studying the substance. Thun, being a former Mutant leader, not warlord, was the main target of various Mutant attacks. His former friends and colleagues developed an extreme hatred for him. They knew that Thun was brilliant and that he would be the main threat to the Empire. The cat-people proclaimed thun as their king.

Thun's studies were interrupted by a Mutant attack on Feline Valley.  A few hundred Mutant soldiers stormed his palace in search of the opportunity and privilege of killing him. Many of these soldiers knew this would advance them in rank but Mutants knew themselves as being treacherous and that there were others who were  going to try to beat them out for the chance of advancement. As a few Mutants stormed the lab, they found Thun holding a strange white substance. Thun ordered them back, pointing the small substance at them. The reptilian soldiers laughed asking what he was planning on doing with the "worthless"
object. Suddenly, the material ignited in flames and began to bond with Thun. It started to grow longer and glowing with a blinding white light. It started shooting lasers, electricity, ice, and fire beams at the Mutant soldiers. Thun fought off the Mutants and humiliated them very badly before their Warlord.  At the Plundarian Capital City, Plundar City, the soldiers spoke of Thun and the cat-people as having developed extremely, all-powerful weapons. The Warlord Goatian knew for sure that the cat-people were a threat to Plundar's Empire and he had to get rid of them right away. He wanted to know of this white gem the cat-people had acquired.  He figured that this substance may be found in Feline Valley where the cat-people lived.

The white-tigerman who found the object with Thun was a devout religious man and psychic. He told Thun that this substance was the key to the feline salvation and victory. The tiger-man was known as Omens and he had a bond with the substance also. He forged it into a mighty sword. The sword would glow at the sign of danger and warn Thun. Thun named the sword, the Sword of Omens, because omen meant a sign of danger. The sword had a completely different look back then
than what it does today.

At the Mutant City Capitol, Mutant Warlord Goatian and his general Allegar--an alligator man, wanted to learn more of the substance Thun had carried. They felt that this object belonged to Plundar because the Empire rules the planet. For their humiliation, the cat-people were declared enemies of Plundar that must be exterminated immediately. Goatian and Allegar took off for Feline Valley personally with the Mutant forces to kill Thun and the cat-people themselves. They planned a sneak attack against their old colleague and friend Thun.  Thun had been warned of the danger by his glowing sword as he stood prepared to face Goatian. Goatian pulled out the Wand of Plundar and turned it into a sword. The two swords clashed in battle. Mutants and Felines watched in awe as their leaders fought to the death. Goatian, a deadly fighter himself was no match for Thun and his Sword. When going to deliver a fatal blow to Thun, the Sword of Omens ignited in fire and incinerated Goatian, thus saving Thun and the feline population. Thun felt remorseful at having killed his old friend. The Mutants fled back to Plundar City.

In Thun's palace, his female companion, a cougar woman, an offshoot of the lion species walked in to cheer her lover up. Her name was Dera. She had beautiful ocean-blue eyes and her skin was of a golden complexion. Her hair was the most beautiful shade of burgundy that plundar had ever known. Dera was a very valiant fighter. She was Thun's equal and she carried two weapons: her staff known as the Staff of Dera and the Totem of Dera, which could cure the sick and wounded and animate inanimate objects. Dera told Thunb that Plundar was no longer a safe place for the cat-people and that General Allegar was going to take over over as Mutant Warlord. Thun knew she spoke truthfully. He even knew that Allegar was deadier and
more dangerous than Goatian. They were once colleagues in the Empire and Allegar assassinated his way up. Allegar was much more vicious than the previous Mutant Warlords.

"As long as we, *purrrrr* felines remain here on Plundar, we are in constant danger. The Empire controls this entire planet. We cannot stay here", Dera told Thun.

"I can't just leave or have our people leave this world. This is our world. We have a right to live here in peace. I plan on remaking this world into a just one". Thun responded.

"True, we do have a right to live but we don't want to die either. Especially unwillingly. Thun, as long as we're here, the more felines die. That sword you carry and my Totem and Staff won't hold off the Mutants forever. They will be trying to find a substance identical to the one your sword is made of and building new weapons o destroy us. We were once members of the Empire that controls this world and a few others. Secceding from and making a fool of the Empire is treachery. They will eventually destroy us if we do not act now. We were once Mutants who served in the government. We even had assassins jobs ourselves before we gave up those savage ways through our evolution", Dera spoke.

Omens entered and spoke, "Your lover speaks true, Thun. We can't stay here."

"No. I will not run away from this", Thun retorted.

"By the Moon-Trolls of Plundar, Thun!!!!!!!! Howmany more of us have to perish beofre you see the light?! Do you want our
child  growing up in a world of savagery...where he or she will be a constant target for being our child?????!!!!"

"What?! A child?!! What are you talking about, Dera?!" Thun asked.

It's true, Thun. I'm pregant with OUR child. Do you want our child in the slaughter also??!!"

Thun's eyes grew wider. "Well, Thun ?! DO YOU?!!!!!", Dera shouted.

Thun stepped forward with tears of joy in his eyes. As Dera was abou to re-ask her last question again. Thun grabbed her and kissed her passionately and responded, "No, of course not!!!!!. How could I have been so blind ?!" he stated as he came to his senses.

"It's not your fault. You were only doing what you thought was right. let's face reality, Plundar is not for us any longer", Dera reassured him. "Allegar will be the new Mutant Warlord and he'll surely destroy us. He's the most evil and cunning Mutant we've ever encountered."

As Allegar was sworn in as the new Mutant Warlord, he proclaimed his first duty as the elimination of Thun and all the cat-people on Plundar once and for all.

Thun back in Feline City in Feline Valley orgainizaed the cat-people and convinced them that it was time to move on. Some were skeptical and wondered how long it would take to find a new homeworld.  The tiger-man Omens told them not to fear because he will lead them to their new world with the power of his own and in Thun's sword. He told them that it won't take long. he declared that the Cat-Gods & Godesses will guide them to safety. The cat people worked hard to build a flagship to carry them all and they even uncovered their old ships they kept from their Mutant Empire days.. The cat-people gathered all their belongings and boarded the spacecrafts and headed for the stars at warp speed and unseen. The Mutant Warlord Allegar arrived with his attack forces. He ordered them to fire and vaporize the Feline Valley and Cities. Allegar thought he succeeded but he knew this was too easy. He told the people at Plundar City that he actually succeeded in keeping his promises.
