Tales of Things that Have Been

Volume III

Chilla

By Lucifer Daimaou

“Stop whining, you worthless little bitch!!”A male Ice-Race Lunatac shouted, slapping the fourteen year old, “It’s your fault your mother’s dead, so live with it!!”Rubbing the bruise on her face, Chilla held back tears. Her father looming over her, sneering. The older Lunatac was a good six feet tall, with the classic white and blue ice cape. His daughter lay below, on hands and knees, with what little clothes she had slashed in several places.

“I-I’m sorry d-d-Dad, I wish I’d n-n-never been born...”She sobbed.That earned her a kick in the gut.

“I said Shut up!”the middle-aged Lunatac shouted, “I wish you’d never been born neither, but there’s nothing we can do about it, is there?!Unless...”grinning malevolently, the adult pulled a large knife out of his pocket, “...unless we want to make a really big mess!”With the young lunatac screaming, Chilla’s father lifted her by her hair and put the knife to her throat.

“P-please, daddy...”Chilla sobbed, tears pouring from her eyes in a river of grief.

“You are a weak bitch,”he snarled at her, “You have to be ready to kill anyone, even your best friend, even your own father.”Dropping her, he gave her his knife.“Go on, kill me.”He ordered.

“B-but dad...”Chilla said, startled, “I-I couldn’t kill anyone...”after delivering toher a firm blow to the jaw, the older man spat upon his daughter.

“That’s your mother speaking,”He snarled, “Making you weak, well, I’ll make you strong, even if it kills you!”unable to take anymore, Chilla rushed out of the house, screaming, towords the hospital that had become more her home than the one her father had provided.

Psychic-race nurse Kelliham sighed, wiping the blood from Chilla’s mouth with a moist towel.“You can’t let him do this to you anymore, hun,”The nurse told her, “One of these days he’ll go too far and kill you!”Chilla sighed.

“It’s not like I want him to do it, but can you blame him?”She asked.Nurse Kelliham narrowed her eyes at Chilla.

“Of course I can, beating up on a child like you, it’s barbaric, even a mutant would be more civilized!”she replied.

“But...if I hadn’t been born, mom wouldn’t have died from the complications, and...”Before Chilla could finish, the nurse cut her off.

“Is that what he told you?”The nurse asked.Chilla looked at her.

“Isn’t that what happened?”

“I think that you’ve lived in the dark for too long, hun,”Killiham sighed, “I think it’s time for you to learn the truth.”

“OUT OF MY WAY!!”Chilla hissed, her eyes glowing red.She shoved through the crowd of nurses and doctors that delayed her from her destination.

“Chilla!! Wait!!”Killihan shouted, “Don’t do this!Come back!!”Chilla didn’t listen, a hidden rage had finnaly been brought to the surface, and no one was going to stop her.letting loose a barrage of fire from her hands, the crowd moved to the side to let the infuriated Ice-Race out.

“What have I done...” Killihan gasped, “What have I done...”

Stomping through the snow towords her home, the ice melted under Chilla’s feet. The small wooden cottage that her father lived in was getting closer.Finnaly, she kicked the door down, and growled at her father.

“It was you!!!”She hissed, “Hsshhh, you killed her!!!”The ice-race man stood up.

“That’s right, Chilla, I killed your mother,”He said, “Hshhh, what’re you gonna do about it?”Roaring in fury, Chilla unleashed flames from her fingertips, which her father froze with a gust from his mouth. Unleashing a gust of her own, Chilla froze the arm of her unfortunate father, then snapped it off.

“This is what I’m going to do, hssshhh, you monster!!”She shouted, putting her hand over his face, “I’m gonna fry that ugly face of yours right off your body!!!”

Time stood still for a moment. In her father’s eyes, Chilla could see something that she had never seen there in her entire life; regret. She saw frustration, she saw determination, and lastly, she saw deep sadness, sadness that he had driven his own daughter from the innocent girl her mother would have made her into this. However, Chilla was too far into the rage to pull back.

With that, she blasted him, the sheer force of which knocked him into the wall.Chilla suddenly realized what had just occured. Now where would she go?She no longer had a home, she no longer had a place stay, regardless of how violent a home it was.She turned when she heard the sound of clapping behind her.A gravity-race lunatac in full military uniform stood in the doorway.

“Very good, kid,”He said, “You have a lot of potential.Seeing as your previous guardian is, well, unable to attend to your needs any farther, I was wondering if you would like to receive combat training and join the military?I know this may be sudden, with all your emotions in a frenzy and all, but...”

“My answer, hsshh, is yes,”Chilla said raspily, “And I have no emotions to be in a frenzy about, sir.Let’s go, this place sickens me.”

That was some time ago.About eight years later, Chilla had made it as one of the most powerful soldiers in the Lunar-Plundarian army, and was currently battling on Plundarr itself; against the Mutants that inhabited it.

Chilla dived into the trench. The war was what she lived for.breathing into her heated hand, Chilla formed an ice-grenade, and prepared to throw it.As soon as the mutants were sure that the other side was asleep, they charged forward; met with a bombardment of Chilla’s ice-grenades.They retreated, assuming that an army awaited them on the other side, unaware that they had just been defeated by a single soldier. It had been like that for a while, Chilla would keep them at bay, while the army itself crept around, and...

The sound was unmistakable, the Lunar-Plundarrian Army had made it into the enemy trench, and the victory was theirs.Chilla hissed in sadistic glory, this was what she lived for.

At the base that night they threw a party.“Gentlemen, and Chilla,”The General, a Sight-Race began, “Today is a glorious day.The entire Eastern Hemisphere of Plundarr is ours, a perfect place to establish our growing military power.Soon, all of Plundarr will be ours, and then, Thunderia!”The soldiers cheered.

“To Chilla! Our secret weapon!”One of them shouted, and the rest agreed in loud cheer.Chilla smirked.

“Hsshhh, don’t count your ThunderCats until they’re dead, boys,”Chilla cried, “The enemy aproaches!!!”They all looked to see several dozen Thunderian space crafts.Out of them approached a legion of troups.A skinny, Jaguar race stood on a platform to speak with them.

“Lunatacs from the Moons of Plundarr,”He shouted, “I am Jaga the Wise, and these are my fellow Thundercats! We have come to demand your immidiate leave of this planet, or we will move you by force!”

“And who are you to barge into our affairs?”The general sneered, “You hate mutants just as much as we do, why don’t you help us wipe them off the face of the galaxy?”

“We do not believe in such pettiness, and will come to the aid of the defenseless under any circumstances,”Jaga replied, “even if they are our enemies.”

“Alright then, have it your way, ATTACK!!!” The general shouted. The Lunar-Plundarrian army mobilized, as did the Thundercat Army.Chilla decided to go for the leader, sending a heat blast at Jaga. The Thundercat was not so easily taken down, however, he pulled out a sword and deflected the blast.

“Oh please,”Chilla rasped, “a sword?”Jaga pointed the sword at Chilla.

“Ho!!”He shouted, and a beam of energy shot at her.Chilla dodged at retaliated with a freeze-breath.The sword, along with Jaga’s arms, were frozen solid.

“Hsshh, Thundercats are no match for Lunatacs.”Chilla laughed.

“And Arrogance is a terrible weakness, Ho!!!”Jaga shouted, breaking free.Their battle continued, and, unbeknowest to them, a camera focused on their particular battle.

“Incredible! She is standing up to the Sword of Omens!”Came a shrill voice.

“Yes, but dooo you think she wiiiill wiin?” came a strangly accented reply.

“I sincerly doubt it, but she is definately strong enough to push our ranks up much higher, and spread our...influences.”The first voice laughed.

The battle raged on, but the Thundercats had the plain advantage, and soon, the Lunatac soldiers were chained. The battle was reduced to the chained soldiers and the Thundercat soldiers watching the battle between Chilla and the Lord of the Thundercats.Chilla managed to dodge most of the energy blasts, but she could not penetrate the shield created by the sword. She could tell that this would require hand-to-hand combat, and she lunged at her opponent.Jaga, however, predicted this, and blasted her to the ground before any damage could be done.Chilla lay there, on her hands and knees, waiting for the certain end to come.“Hsshhh, go ahead, finish me off,”She hissed.Jaga sheithed his sword.

“No, we do not kill. You are hereby banished from Plundarr, and Thundera, as are the rest of your people until a proper treaty is signed. Now go, leave this place.”

The soldiers returned to the Third Moon of Plundarr, the capitol of their nation. They were disbanded from the military, and Chilla roamed the streets for months afterwards, picking as many fights as she could, and winning all of them. She no longer had a purpose in life, and that irritated her.

On the fourth month of her return, She was pulled into an alley by a large, white hand.Reacting before thinking, she lept out of the creature’s hold, turned, and blasted it with ice.The giant white creature brushed the breathe aside, and started to attack, when a shrill voice suddenly shouted, “Amok, heel!”wincing at the sound of the voice, Chilla looked for it’s source, and found a small Troll-Race Lunatac riding on the back of ‘Amok’.

“Hssshhh, what do you want?!”Chilla demanded. The Troll smiled.

“Aaaahh, yes, the great Chilla, who was, until four months ago, considered indestructable.”She said slowly, “My name is Luna, and I am here to offer you a job.”Chilla was interested.

“What kind of job?”She asked.

“I own what one might be so crude as to call a crimering,”She explained, “But not just any crimering...”

“The Lunatacs of Plundarr,”Chilla hissed excitedly, “Yes, I’ve heard of you.You wish for me to work for you? What’s in it for me?”

“I’m glad you asked,”Luna said, grinning, “We offer not only riches, but power. We plan on ruling this mesely little moon, and then taking Plundarr, Thundera, and anything else that gets in our way!!”

“Hssh, I’ve heard this all before,”Chilla said, not impressed, “How is this any different than the Lunar-Plundarrian army?”Luna smiled.

“We have the soldiers, we have the technology, and we have the influence to do much more than the Lunar-Plundarrian army,”Luna replied, “and with you joining, many more will be joining soon after!”

The deal was, of course, taken almost immidiately by the Ice-Race warrior, and though most of her duties were in the battle to conquer rival crimerings, she was occasionaly sent out to find new recruits.

On her first search, she was sent to the Mist Moon of Plundarr to look for a decent technical engineer, as Amok had digested the last one.Placing her sight-glasses on, Chilla wandered through the many forests of the moon, searching for any sort of complex. The Sight-Race Lunatacs had always been renowned for their technological know how, but mainly, they were difficult to find, much less employ. With their ability to see through anything, they could hide where in places no one else could find. Thus, Chilla had to rely mainly on her instincts.

Wandering through a large forest, Chilla looked up in time to see a gigantic, eight-legged creature plummeting towords her.Leaping out of the way and rolling onto her feet, Chilla turned to face her attacker. What she saw was a truly odd sight, a gigantic, black spider with a large, red ovul eye on its head.Irritated with the creature, Chilla unleashed her freeze breath, freezing it on the spot.“Hsshhh, that wasn’t so hard.”She boasted out loud. However, behind her she heard several dozen loud Thuds, and when she turned, she saw quite a lot of the creatures.

Having no other option, Chilla grudgedly turned and ran.The sounds of thousands of toeless feet chasing after her was enough to inspire her to run even faster. However, looking behind her, Chilla could see that it would not be long before she was captured.

Rushing out of the forest, Chilla could see a gigantic, metal fortress. The fortress was quite a sight, it seemed too wide to be just a tower, but its shape was cylindrical.Made obviously out of metal, it was armed quite impressively, laser cannons on the top and out of several windows.Around it, an acid lake protected it from anyone comming by foot.Chilla froze a path across, and rushed over it.The spider-creatures followed, but she blasted the ice with her fingers, and the creatures met their doom in the acid.

The downside; Chilla was soon surrounded by Sight-Race soldiers.“Who are you and why do you bring Sight-Spiders?!”One demanded.

“Hsshh, I am Chilla, and I bring no Spiders of any sort,”Chilla hissed boldly, “They followed me, I merely had to kill them off.”

“Why have you come here?”The tallest one asked.

“I have come on behalf of the Lunatacs of Plundarr,”Chilla explained, “We are willing to grant all of our resources to a brilliant technition, should one volunteer to come with us.”The tall one who had asked her the question seemed interested. He extended his hand.

“Well, that’s good enough for me.Welcome to Castle Extermination, my name is RedEye, I am the cheif technition here.”He said, shaking her hand, “I am interested in your offer, but I must attend to business on the Gravity moons before I leave.”

“Hssshh, fair enough,”Chilla said, “Luna will meet you on the Third Moon, contact us when you are ready.”

However, the journy that she considered most successful occured on a visit to one of the Psychic Moons of Plundarr.

Her arrival was greeted by five Gravity-carbine toting Lunatacs, who were from a powerful noble with the fancy to get rid of her as a threat.Unfortunately, he grossly underestimated her abilities, and in mere minutes, the opposition was frozen solid. All except for one unfortunate Gravity-Race lunatac, whom Chilla froze by his arms and legs to the ground, and began to interrogate him.She found that the group had been sent by the Noble’s child Psiki, who would be participating at the Tournament of the Minds later that day.Chilla repayed the favor of information by ending the creature’s life painlessly.

The tournament was won by a truly amazing boy, Alluro, who had defeated her antagonist in battle with clever trickery of the mind.He immidiately accepted the offer to join the Lunatacs of Plundarr, and she directed him to the ship back the the Third moon.“So, Chilla, you have a taste for Psychic men?”He teased.Chilla’s expression did not change, but there was a hint of humor in her voice when she replied;

“Only when they’re cooked, hsshh.”And let a flame blast down at his feet. And the rest is well known to us all.Chilla continued to be the emotionless killer she became after the death of her father...

But that is only one speculation.
