Thundercat Soaps
Parts 10-11
Part 10
Lion-O gently held Cheetara in his arms without touching the five spikes that hit Cheetara in the back. "Cheetara, answer me." Lion-O called her, but for the past five minutes she has been unconscious.
Panthro, Tygra, WilyKit, and WilyKat ran to Lion-O.
"Here," Lion-O said giving Cheetara to WilyKit, "Hold her and don't touch the spikes." Lion-O got up angrily holding his sword. "You want me! Come get me!" He said angrily. He growled and raised his sword, aiming it at the beast. "HO!"
The sword's power hit the beast and it stepped back. Lion-O continued to charge at it, shooting the swords power at it and finally destroying the beast by cutting it in half. Ocelo watches the battle in disgust and anger in a near by tree. He mentally forced the ground to open and his monster fell in. The ground closes and Lion-O lets out an angry cry. Because, according to him, he wasn't finished with the beast.
Panthro ran to Lion-O. "Calm down, Lion-O." Panthro said.
Lion-O turned to Panthro angry. "You tell me to calm down when-"
"He didn't kill her."
"She's alive?" Lion-O asked with hope in his eyes.
"Yes. She's awake and she's asking for you." Panthro said.
"Let's not stand here. Let's go." Lion-O said.
Cheetara was taken to sickbay once they brought her back to the lair. Tygra was putting on a strong face as he gently pulled the spikes out of her. However, he was hurting, emotionally inside.
This is all my fought. I shouldn't have done business with a lowlife like Ocelo. I'll make him pay for this. Tygra thought as he rubbed alcohol on Cheetara's back and finishing patching her injured back up. "It's been too long. The next stage is starting."
"The next stage? What are you talking about, Tygra?" Lion-O asked.
"The poison has entered her body and I have to get the cure. The Totem of Dera won't help now." Tygra said and ran out.
"Tygra! Wait! Where are you going?!" Lion-O shouted down the hall, but Tygra didn't answer. He started to go after him when Panthro laid a hand on his shoulder.
"Tygra knows what he's doing. He's getting a cure. He'll be back. He would never let Cheetara die." Panthro said.
"You're right. If you need me, I'll be here with Cheetara." Lion-O said and return to Cheetara's side.
Panthro watched them. They reminded him of him and Aline. He thought about the time when Aline jumped in front of him, taking the laser shot and dying in his arms. Panthro replayed today's events in his mind when Cheetara jumped in front of Lion-O It's happening again. Panthro thought and shook his head. No! It won't happen again. Tygra has got to come through. He thought to himself and left, leaving Lion-O and Cheetara some privacy.
*****
Tygra rushes into Ocelo's cave full of anger. "OCELO!!" Tygra yelled angrily.
Ocelo walked out of the dark, looking upset as well. "So you finally showed up. I-"
Tygra grabbed Ocelo and slammed him into a wall in the cave. "You stupid fool! Your creature shot Cheetara instead of Lion-O!"
"Let me go or I'll tell the Thundercats about your deception." Ocelo said and Tygra let go. "It was not my fault, but your Amazon Thundercat. The claws would've hit Lord Lion-O if Cheetara didn't jump in front of him. Another thing since Lord Lion-O destroyed my beast, it's going to cost you more to keep my secret. Incidentally, shouldn't you be taking care of that Amazon now?"
"I would if I had the flower to cure her." Tygra said.
"Didn't I give you a flower?" Ocelo asked.
"I destroyed it." Tygra said. Ocelo shook his head and Tygra continued. "It's too late to use the Totem of Dera because I took out the spikes. I need that flower to cure Cheetara."
Ocelo look at Tygra oddly. "And you call yourself a scientist? The wisest of all the Thundercats? You are stupid."
*****
Cheetara begins to shiver. "I'm so cold. Could you get me another
blanket Lion-O? It feels like twenty below."
Lion-O placed another heavy blanket on her, making it five. "It must be an affect of the poison, but don't worry. Tygra will find a cure." He assured her and looked into her tired, weak eyes and became upset with himself. "This is all my fault." He said walking to the window. "I feel so helpless. It's suppose to be me lying there, not you."
"Lion-O."
Lion-O looked at Cheetara.
"I will not let anything harm you. I would give my life for you." Cheetara told him.
"As I would for you." He said sitting back down and taking her hand.
Cheetara begin to shiver again. "I'm f-ffreezing."
Lion-O got up and poured some hot cocoa and gave it to her. He put his arm around her, trying to keep her warm.
"I hope Tygra comes soon." Cheetara said.
"I hope so, too." He took the mug from her hand when she finished and laid her down on her bed. "Get some sleep. You'll need to restore some of your energy." Lion-O told her and she agreed.
****
Tygra was looking very upset at the remark Ocelo made. "Stupid? You're calling me stupid?"
"Well, you are. The poison wasn't going to take affect until after the spikes were removed and then you were to use the Totem of Dera." Ocelo explained.
Tygra thought for a minute. Cheetara wasn't shivering when the spikes hit her and he didn't stay long for the effects to kick in. "You're right. I was so emotionally distress that I wasn't thinking straight."
"And you wasted your time here instead of saving her. She's probably sleeping, making the poison work quicker in her body, so now you will need the flower."
"Where is that flower?!" Tygra demanded.
"You owe me for my pet. 100 times more." Ocelo named his price.
Tygra took out his bolo whip and wrapped it around Ocelo's neck, nearly choking him. "I'm not gonna pay you anything. You are going to give me that flower and all my money back, and if you try telling the Thundercats, I'll deny it of course, and they'll believe me because I'm a Thundercat and you're a lowlife scum, a mercenary for hire. I'll also trace that beast back to you and tell Lion-O and he will definitely make you pay." Tygra threatened Ocelo through clenched teeth and tighten the whip around Ocelo's neck.
"All right. You win." Ocelo said in a strained voice. Tygra let him go and Ocelo breathe hardly. He looked at Tygra in anger had no choice but to give Tygra the flower and all his money back. Tygra got on the HoverCat and left heading for the Gardens of Thundera to get the other item that will save Cheetara. I'm so sorry, Cheetara Lion-O suppose to be dying, not you. Don't worry, my love. I will save you.
Part 11
Lion-O shook Cheetara, trying to wake her up from her deep sleep. "Cheetara, wake up! Wake up!"
Cheetara finally stirred. "Lion-O, what is it?"
"You mustn't fall asleep. Tygra just came back and said that the poison works quicker while you sleep." Lion-O explained.
"Oh, no. How much poison did I take in?" Cheetara asked.
"I don't know, but I wish I knew who was behind this. I'd show him he can't mess with the Lord of the Thundercats. When I find out who's behind this, I'll make him pay." Lion-O said angrily and balled his fist.
"Lion-O," Cheetara placed her hand over his, "forget it. Thundercats aren't vengeful people. Besides, it could be anyone; a mercenary, assassin or a commoner who has a grudge against you. It'll take forever for you to find him. I'm fine for now. Isn't that what matters?" Cheetara asked.
"Yes, it is. It's just that-"
Cheetara placed two fingers on Lion-O lips. "I know. I know. How's Tygra coming with the cure?"
"He's in the lab working in on it now. I'll go check how he's doing." He told her and left.
*****
Tygra worked carefully in his lab. Most of the antidote was finished, but Tygra wasn't sure if he would finish in time to save Cheetara. Cheetara has been sleeping almost ever since he left and he didn't know how much of the poison had entered her body. He was adding some of the flower's juices to a test tube when Lion-O came in.
"Tygra?"
Tygra jumped almost spilling some of the juices.
"Sorry. How are you doing?" Lion-O asked.
"So far so good, but I'm not sure I can get the antidote to Cheetara in time. How is she anyway?"
"Not to good. I didn't tell her, but she's looking pale and weak, and she's having trouble staying awake." Lion-O answered.
"She mustn't fall asleep. It could kill her." Tygra said and looked kind of worried when he asked the next question. "Are you going to search for the person who did this?"
"I was, but Cheetara convinced me not to. What matters now is saving her. If you don't mind, I'd like to help you."
Tygra looked at Lion-O and smiled. As much as I hate you now, I'll let you help, for Cheetara. "I would like that."
*****
Cheetara fought to stay awake but the poison was working fast in her body and her energy was draining. Her eyelids were becoming heavier and she fell asleep. Panthro came in and woke Cheetara up.
"I'm up. I'm up." she said.
"Cheetara, you musn't fall asleep." Panthro told her.
"I know. It's just that I'm so tired."
"This isn't right." Panthro said.
"Oh, please, Panthro, don't say it. I've talked to Lion-O and did my best to convince him that what happened happened and there wasn't anyway to prevent it." Cheetara tried to explain to Panthro.
Panthro looked at her and saw that she was losing her natural color and that her energy was draining. "No. No." Panthro said getting up. "That's not what I meant. I mean why is it that a person you love sacrifices their life for you?"
"I'm not dead, Panthro." Cheetara said in an almost sarcastic tone.
"But you could have like-" He stopped himself.
"Just like who, Panthro?" Cheetara asked.
"Nothing. It's nothing, really."
"Panthro, I want to know. We have been friends for years and-" She gasped and clasped her chest. "Oh, no." She said as her heart began to beat rapidly. She started breathing hard as well. "The poison-" She said and the poison took full control her mind and she passed out.
Panthro shook Cheetara. "Cheetara! Wake up! No! Don't die on us!" Panthro shouted at her but she didn't respond.
Lion-O and Tygra came in with the antidote. "Cheetara, we have-" Lion-O stopped when he saw Panthro trying to wake up Cheetara. He ran to her side. "Cheetara, wake up!"
Tygra pulled out the needle holding the antidote. "Give me her arm quick!" Tygra ordered and Lion-O gave it to him. He gave her the antidote and the room became quiet with anxiety.
"How long does it takes before it works?" Panthro asked.
"It should be working now." Tygra said and gently shook Cheetara. "Come on, Cheetara. Wake up. I--we need you." Tygra tried to wake her up but she didn't respond.
Lion-O took hold of her hand. "Come on, Angel Face. Wake up. You love it when I call you that. Come on. I need you." Lion-O told her gently and kissed her. He broke the kiss and looked at her oddly.
"What is it, Lion-O?" Panthro asked.
"I could've sworn she kissed me back." Lion-O said and kissed Cheetara again. He pulled away and Cheetara woke up.
"Lion-O." She threw her arms around him. "I'm cured." She looked at Tygra and hugged him, too. He happily returned the hug of course. "Thank you, Tygra."
"You're welcome. You know I would never let you die." Tygra said in a gentle voice.
Panthro looked at Tygra oddly. Hmm. Nah. He looked back at a recovered Cheetara and noticed her color was coming back. "How are you feeling?"
"A lot better than I did a few hours ago."
Panthro notice Lion-O and Cheetara looking at each other intently and figure they needed some privacy. "I bet the lab is a mess. I'll help you clean it up,Tygra."
Tygra knew what Panthro was really saying and nodded in agreement. "It is. Let's go."
After they left, Lion-O sat on the bed with Cheetara and put his arm around her. "Do you know how worried I was?" Lion-O asked.
"I have an idea."
Lion-O gave her a passionate kiss. "Don't you ever do that again."
"Maybe I should risk my life for you so often." Cheetara said slyly.
"Funny." He said dryly.
Cheetara laughed. "All that fighting made you too tough. You need to loosen up."
"I know, but this whole experience got me thinking about our lives and I realized we don't have all the time in the world."
"That's true. You never know when it's you time, but I knew it wasn't yours."
"And it definitely wasn't yours, which is why I want to ask you something."
"Go ahead." Cheetara said.
Lion-O took his arms off Cheetara and got on one knee. "Will you marry me?"
Cheetara was stunned at Lion-O's proposal, but her facial expression soon turned into a big smile. "Yes. I will marry you."
Lion-O got off his knee and hugged Cheetara. He pulled out a black box, holding a heart-shaped diamond ring. He placed it on her finger and kissed his fiancé.
Next Time: Cheetara learns a secret from Panthro's past. Tygra isn't too happy about Lion-O and Cheetara's engagement, and tries to convince Cheetara not to marry Lion-O. Tygra comes up with a plan to stop the wedding.
