It was a quiet, peaceful day on Thundera. The citizens went to their jobs, cubs went to school, and the Thundercats guarded their planet with their constant surveillance of Thundera. Claudus, Lord of the Thundercats, walked around Cat's Lair. The lair his ancestors built and defended against evil; making it a foundation of hope for all the people of Thundera. He walked out of the lair, and a mile from the lair under a tree, he spotted Katherine holding Lion-O who is now two in her arms. Claudus smiled at the sight. He never thought he'd see such a beautiful sight again.

"What are my two favorite people doing?" Claudus said with a smile.

"Claudus." Katherine smiled at her husband and released Lion-O.

"Daddy!" Lion-O smiled and ran to his father.

Claudus bent down to Lion-O's height and hugged him. He stood up with Lion-O in his arms. "What are you and your mother doing out here?"

"Mommy wanted to come out here because it was a pretty day."

"It is a beautiful day isn't it, Kat." Claudus said sitting beside his wife.

"Yes it is, and I wish all days were like this but they aren't and probably never will be." Katherine sounded depress.

"Don't say that, Katherine. Our planet has peace. It's just that other planets like Plundarr are around only to destroy and conquer planets like ours. However, we will continue to fight them and peace will be all over the universe." He explained to his wife and let out a deep sigh. "You worry too much, Kat. Did you know that?" He place his arms around Katherine in a way to comfort her. Lion-O, free from his father's hold, began to walk away from his parents.

"Not to far, Lion-O." Katherine said with watchful eyes. She turned to Claudus. "Yes, I do, but I mainly worry about Lion-O and his future. Will he grow up with war around him or will it be peace? Right now it seems war, and I only want what's best for our child. Our only child."

"I know, Kat. I know. I want that too, and I'll do everything in my power to make sure he gets the best." He gave her a hug.

"You seem to always make things right, Claudus." Katherine smiled and kissed her husband.

Just then an explosion appeared a few feet in front of them. Katherine and Claudus immediately viewed the sky's above them. It was a mutant ship shooting lasers and explosives around them.

"An attack?" Katherine said looking and gasped as she saw a mutant ship.

"The mutants!" Claudus said recognizing the ship.

"Lion-O!" Katherine yelled worriedly and ran to grab Lion-O.

In the mutant ship, Rataro was watching the scene below while Slythe, Vultureman, and Monkian were at he controls. Rataro laughs evilly as he sees the royal family below. "There! Shoot that tree under Claudus' wife and son. With them gone, he'll be powerless against me."

Slythe pressed a button that ignited a laser that cut a tree under them. Katherine quickly picked up Lion-O and hugged him close. Claudus saw the being slice. "Katherine! Lion-O!" Claudus yelled as the tree began to fall.

Katherine looked up and saw the tree beginning to fall. She was too shocked to move. As the tree fell, Claudus ran and caught the tree on his back. It hurt a little bit but not as much as he thought it would because it's been nearly 20 years since he caught a huge tree on his back. Claudus pushed the tree off his back and grabbed Katherine's hand. "We must get back to the Lair." Claudus said running with his wife and son.

"You better called the others." Katherine advised.

They hid from the mutant ship behind a large tree even though Rataro continued to shoot explosives and lasers from his ship. Claudus took out the Sword of Omens. "Thunder! Thunder! Thunder! Thundercats Ho!" He commanded his sword, it stretched to it fullest length and the Eye of Thundera opened, signaling the other Thundercats.

Tygris and Jaga were in the lair when they saw the signal. Their eyes glowed, and they immediately ran to action. Jaga got on a flying vehicle similar to a jet ski. Tygris got on a Thunderclaw similar to Panthro's except for the design pattern and color. Chetro and Willow were in the city when they saw signal and got on their way; Chetro running and Willow on a motorcycle.

With the Sword of Omens in one hand and his other hand holding Katherine's hand, they ran towards Cat's Lair. Lion-O was scared of the sudden attack and noises surrounding him.

"Mommy, what's going on?" Lion-O asked scared.

"We're being attack by the mutants. Now please not another word until we get home."

Lion-O obeyed his mother and remained quiet while Rataro was losing his temper. "Slythe! Monkian! Get the other mutants from the second deck and get out there! Take care of the Lord of the Thundercats and his family." Rataro ordered.

Slythe and Monkian got out of their seats and left the room. Claudus and Katherine were closer to the lair now.

"We're almost their, my love." Claudus told his wife.

"Not so fassst." Slythe said from behind.

Claudus and Katherine turned around and saw Slythe aiming a laser weapon at them. Two other mutants landed and surrounded them from the side and Monkian's laugh from behind them indicated he had a weapon aiming at them too. Claudus and his family was trapped, but Claudus swore to never let his family get hurt.

"Stay by my side, Kat. I will protect you and Lion-O."

"That sword may protect you in the front but who got your back?" Slythe said preparing to fire.

"I got that covered." Tygris said as she shot the blaster out of his hand.

Slythe cried out and dropped the blaster. The other mutants began to shoot at Tygris. Chetro and Willow showed up to help out Tygris. Jaga flew down to knock Monkian out, giving Claudus the opportunity he needed to run to Cat's Lair. Slythe grabbed his weapon and aimed it Claudus as he was running.

"Freeze! Or your wife and cub gets it." Slythe warned,

Claudus turned his sword on Slythe. "HO!" The sword power shocked Slythe, knocking him unconscious.

Jaga landed in front of Claudus. "Here. Take my aircraft. We can handle it."

Claudus and his family got on it and Claudus saw Ratato ship preparing to fire at him, but he shot first with his sword, jamming the missiles. He flew higher in the sky and towards Cat's Lair. In Cat's Lair, they went to secret passages. "You must stay in the secret passages until the battle is over." He told his wife and looked down at Lion-O. "Lion-O, you're the man now so protect your mother."

"I will by the Code of Thundera." He said putting his hand to his chest.

Claudus smiled. "I'll be back, Kat."

"Claudus." She said grabbing his arm. "Please promise me you'll be careful."

"I will." He kissed her and left.

Claudus ran out to join Jaga and the other Thundercats. Most of the mutants were defeated and retreated back to the ship. However, Rataro was sending more mutants out and Slythe and Monkian were conscious and fighting again.

"Have you fix the weapons yet?!" Rataro yelled impatiently.

"Caww! No, Rataro, it's still jammed." He said still trying to fix it.

"Keep at it. I'm going to fight Claudus with the Sword of Plundarr." Rataro said as he teleported himself to the battle and in front of Claudus. He opened the Sword of Plundarr. "Give up, Claudus. You're no match for the Sword of Plundarr."

"Your evil and your sword will be defeated by the Eye of Thundera. Ho!" The sword fired its power at the Sword of Plundarr.

Rataro twirled the Sword of Plundarr and shot its flames at Claudus and Jaga who joined Claudus side. Claudus dodged the flames and Jaga jumped on a nearby tree. Claudus shot a blast of the sword's power at Rataro, causing him to drop the Sword of Plundarr. By this time, the rest of the Thundercats showed up.

"We defeated Slythe, Monkian and the rest of the mutants." Tygris said joining them.

"They teleported themselves back to the ship." Chetro added.

The Thundercats surrounded Rataro. "Give up, Rataro. You can't win." Claudus held the Sword of Omens in front of Rataro. "Don't even try reaching for the sword." Claudus warned.

In the RatStar, the rest of the mutants watches. "Vultureman, is the smoke screen working?" Slythe asked.

"Yes but-"

"Shoot them out." Slythe ordered.

Vultureman obeyed and shot the smoke screen out. The Thundercats were coughing and trying to see but Claudus and Rataro stayed their ground. Rataro put on his visors that allowed him to see through the smoke screen. He picked up the Sword of Plundarr and opened it again. The sword's flame glowed with evil power. He sees Claudus carefully walking through the smoke screen with his open, and Rataro swung the Sword of Plundarr's flames on Claudus eyes.

"Aah!" Claudus yelled as he dropped the Sword of Omens. He fell to his knees and placed his hand over his eyes.

"A gift from me, Claudus." Rataro smiled evilly as the smoke disintegrated. He teleported himself back to the RatStar and flew off.

"Claudus!" The Thundercats called out and ran to Claudus.

"Are you all right?" Jaga asked.

"I'm afraid not my friend. For I am blind." Claudus removed his hand from his eyes. His eyes wasn't its usual color but opal-like. The way it looked in Return to Thundera the first season.

"Let's get back to the lair. I'll check you out from there." Tygris said helping him up.

Back at Cat's Lair in the sickbay, Tygris examined his eyes through some highly advanced eye machine. The rest of the Thundercats surrounded the walls of the room and waited patiently for Tygris to finish examining Claudus. Tygris let out a deep sigh as she finished. "I'm sorry, Claudus, but your eyes are permanently damaged. The only good news I can give you is that the fire from the Sword of Plundarr didn't burn your eyes out of its socket considering how powerful it is, but your sight is completely lost."

"Can we use the Totem of Dera to heal his eyes?" Jaga asked.

"That's mixing two different types of magic. I'm not sure it will work." Tygris answered'

"Well, we can try." Chetro said and ran out. Within seconds, he returned with the Totem of Dera and held it in from of Claudus eyes. "Totem of Dera, heal the eyes of our leader, Claudus, Lord of the Thundercats." The Totem's power flashed on Claudus eyes for a minute. "Well, your highness?" Chetro asked.

"It didn't work." Claudus said sadly.

"What are we going to do now?" Willow asked the group.

"Jaga, go get Katherine and Lion-O."

"Yes, Claudus." Jaga obeyed his leader wishes and left.

"Mommy, when's Daddy coming back.?" Lion-O asked his mother.

"Soon, Lion-O. After the battle." Katherine answered and the door opened.

"Katherine."

Katherine stood up and picked up Lion. "Jaga? Where's Claudus? He always comes for us when a battle is over." Right then she realized something was wrong. "What's wrong with Claudus?" She asked worried.

"He rather tell you himself. Please come." He advised.

When they entered the recovery room, Katherine immediately put her arms around Claudus, tangling Lion-O in the middle. "Mom, I'm being squished."

Katherine broke from Claudus and sat Lion-O beside his father. "Oh, my love, what has happened?" She said with falling tears.

"Katherine, the only regrets I have is that I can no longer see your beautiful face again or see Lion-O grow into a strong leader." He sadly told his wife.

"Blind? How?"

"Rataro swung the Sword of Plundarr's flames on my eyes. I couldn't see him because of the smoke screen."

"What are we going to do? The Sword of Omens' Sight Beyond Sight-"

"I have a solution to the problem, Katherine." Claudus interrupted his wife. "Jaga, you shall be the new Lord of the Thundercats. As my second-in-command, it is only right that you take command. You will use the Sword of Omens to fight battles, and I will handle the concerns of the planet. When Lion-O comes of age, he will take over as Lord of the Thundercats." Claudus said authoritatively. "Does everyone understand this?" Claudus asked the Thundercats.

"Yes." The Thundercats said and nodded in agreement.

"Do you accept this honor Jaga?" Claudus asked.

"Yes, my Lord."

Claudus handed the Claw Shield, which held the Sword of Omens, to Jaga. Jaga gracefully took it and placed it on his side.

"I proclaim you, Jaga, Lord of the Thundercats." Claudus proclaimed.

"Hail, Jaga, Lord of the Thundercats!" The other Thundercats proclaimed with their right arm in the air.
