He stopped seeing the Graviton pushing
around the Ice child.
"Come on give it a try." The
rotund Lunatak insisted holding out a bag with a glowing substance in it.
"I don't know." The boy protested.
"I've heard that stuff can be dangerous."
"It's safe." The Graviton
protested. "Just a little moon dust to warm you up." He paused to
laugh at his own joke.
Cameo growled, moon dust, it was pollen from
a flower growing only on the dark world, slightly narcotic and highly
addictive. "The boy said no." He said stepping forward.
The Graviton turned around, taken aback to
see a tall Icewalker interfering, they normally left each other alone.
"And who are you?" The graviton demanded.
"My name's Cameo." His hand
flashed out and grabbed the bag of moon dust. "Now get out of here."
He turned to the kid. "Go home, this stuff's bad to any Lunatak, deadly to
us, it'll raise your temperature three degrees."
A look of horror flooded the child's face
and he took off.
"Hey you ruined my sale!" Then
paused. "You're the powerless freak!" Suddenly brave he went for his
weapon before he could draw it Cameo's foot connected to the side of his head.
Slipping the bag of dust in a pocket
negligently until he could dispose of it he started walking.
A few blocks later a laser scored above his
head and burned into the stone wall. "Stun? That was kill focus!"
"Come back ya powerless freak!"
One of the pursuers called. "We wanna talk to you!"
He turned and saw the Graviton pusher and
apparently one of his friends "Like hell." Their target spat then
changed his mind. His duster wouldn't turn many blasts but Solarin make it
could absorb a few. "I'm coming!" He roared, ten inch blades snapped
out of his arms above the wrist, more Solarin gifts.
His charge took his attackers by surprise.
He was lucky they were Gravitons and not another breed. The blade of his left
hand slid across the body of the first, his duster heating from the laser fire.
Taking the laser from the falling guard hoping his duster could take another
blast he didn't dodge the fire from the remaining hi-grav, it was the last shot
the Lunatak ever fired.
"Glad those guy's don't aim for the
head." He said softly as he jammed the pistol in a pocket and walked down
the street.
He pulled the duster tighter against the
wind, it wasn't cold for the ice moon but he wasn't a full Lunatak either.
Looking down at his blue hands he smiled, he looked like a full-blooded ice
Lunatak, white hair blue skin nothing showed him to be a half breed. Well
nothing but his lack of powers anyway.
Cameo frowned the ten inch snap blades
flicked out and back like a snakes tongue, he'd got them implanted that time
he'd visited a race called the Solarin's, nice folks they lived on one planet
surrounded by five small suns, each with a different type of radiation, giving
them distinct colors
They'd mastered radiation, all their energy
came from the suns, using highly advanced solar panels they captured radiation
from each sun and combined it into a powerful fuel called liquid light.
He had no idea why he went. He just hopped
in his little ship and quite literally headed toward the light.
He stayed for about a month, the heat caused
him difficultly so the solarin's gave him the duster he now wore, the armored
plating inside was a multi type shielding, almost thermal it kept heat or cold
out while his body temperature kept the inside comfortable, and it was a strong
armor.
When he'd finally left they'd given him a
new ship, Solarin make but Lunatak design the "Lunar-Star" was a
beauty with a kick.

His walking eventually lead him to Frosty's
house. Frosty'd been a friend of his mom's and remained a friend to her
powerless boy. "Hey Cam' what's up?" He asked seeing the younger
Lunatak entered.
"Not a lot." The half breed
answered tossing the laser pistol on the table. "A couple Graviton's
wanted to talk."
The gun disappeared under the table, later
Cameo'd get half of the money it brought. "Any problems?"
He removed his duster and flopped into a
chair. "Not really, and don't worry they won't be causing trouble again,
I'm gonna need to leave till the heats off though."
"Thought as much." Frosty replied
tossing him a rag. "Clean those blades of yours and I'll get the ship
ready."
"Thanks." Cameo called carefully
wiping the blades clean. By the time Frosty came back his blade's were clean
and his duster was again around him.
"It's powering up." Frosty said
with a mock bow.
He smiled and headed for the fridge.
"Luner beer, luner ale, luner wine." He shook his head. "Frosty
you need a bigger menu."
Frosty laughed. "I've got beer, wine,
and ale, three of the four major food groups."
"Yea the only one your missing is
food." He shrugged and grabbed a beer. "You mind if I pass out awhile
Frosty? It's been a long day."
"Nah. Go for it kid, I'm gonna take
care of this gun you *found*."
"Thanks Frosty." Cameo waved as
the Old Icewalker left, a few minuets later he was asleep on the couch.
* * *
"Wake up sleeping beauty." Frosty
whispered shaking his foot.
"Huh? Oh yea." Cameo stretched.
"I don't know Frosty. I think hanging out with you is making me old."
Frosty grinned. "If it makes me younger
I'm all for it."
Cameo just shook his head. "How much
that gun bring you?"
"One hundred here's your cut."
He didn't bother counting it, if Frosty said
it brought a hundred he knew the small wad was fifty. "What time is
it?"
"About ten in the morning, you slept
for quite awhile."
"You drug my beer?"
"Nope."
Just then a heavy pounding erupted from the
door.
"We know you're in there, give up and
surrender!"
"Cops." Frosty said slightly
worried. "Looks like they found your playmates."
"Yea." Cameo returned drawing his
duster closed. "Look I'll blast off you claim I threatened you." He
held up a hand to stop the forming protest. "Look this is your home and
you've been a great friend and dad to me. I'm not gonna let you be burned on my
account." A quick shot to the stomach took the wind out of Frosty.
"You come in, and he dies!" Cameo shouted to the cops and ran toward
his ship in the back.
"Lets just calm down and talk."
The cop's voice was suddenly much calmer. "No need for violence."
Cameo thumbed the hatch open and jumped in
the Pilot's seat, good old Frosty, the ship was fully powered and ready.
"Computer, system check, is everything online?"
"Yes"
"Good, power the flare but don't fire,
release the docking clamps and get us out of here, straight up until we're
space born."
"Acknowledged."
Suddenly the little ship took of straight
upwards, sensors and video screen's clicked on as it cleared it's hanger.
* * *
"Shit!" The lead cop snapped.
"Someone break down the door and check the old man, and get air patrol
after that ship!"
* * *
The Ice Moon police department was good.
He'd just left that atmosphere when he was hailed.
"Lunar-Star, we demand you power down
and submit to boarding."
"Not today guys, I'm busy." Cameo
replied, his hand out of sight was cycling through the ship systems diverting
power to his shields and engines.
"If you do not comply, we will shoot
you out of space. This is your only warning."
"Computer bring us around to heading
156.42, fire flair then full power to engines!"
"Compliant."
* * *
The sensors of the ice patrol's ship
suddenly went offline in a sudden flash of light.
"Report!" The captain roared.
"Unknown discharge sir." The
tactical officer replied. "Systems are working fine but the radiation has
rendered then useless."
"How long until it clears?"
"Un known, it appears however to be
long lasting."
"Take us down then." The captain
wasn't happy, shown up by a powerless fool.
* * *
Cameo patted the control panel lovingly. He
loved his ship.
"Computer return power systems too
normal, reduce speed and come to a stop."
"Compliant."
The ship's engines powered down and stopped.
"How far are we from the ice
moon?"
"973.76 astral units."
Cameo smiled. Not quite FTL but it would move
when he needed it. "Any inhabited planets near by?"
"Yes."
Before he could ask for the name a woman's
voice crackled over his comm.
"This is officer Mandora evil chaser
first class. I demand you halt your ship."
Cameo snickered. "Officer it is
stopped."
"Don't get smart with me!" The
voice snapped back.
"Galactic rent a cop on a power
trip." Cameo thought resignedly. "Ok Officer, I'm stopped what are
the charges and I'm guessing you'd like to come a board."
"Correct."
"Computer lower shields and open the door."
When the panel opened the blond cop entered
without as much as a hello. "Reckless driving, speeding, stopping in the
middle of a space way." She continued to rattle on.
"Now wait a second. You told me to
stop." Cameo protested. "Besides this is just empty space."
"Listen here." The woman looked up
from her Pad, her visor flashed when she got a good look at Cameo. "Freeze
Lunatak!"
"Now what did I do?"
"I said freeze! Don't make me subdue
you!"
"Oh come on!" Cameo snapped
exasperated.
"That's it!" She pulled what
looked like a boomerang out of a holster and flung it at him, before he could
react he was tied up.
"That'll teach you to attack a
cop." Mandora said haughtily then began to check his pockets.
"Don't you need a warrant? Or something!?"
He demanded.
"Not for a Lunatak." She replied.
"Ah ha!" She pulled out the packet of moon dust. "I knew you'd
have something on you Lunatak."
"Ok. This is getting ridiculous, that
stuff's." He stopped, her sweep knocking him on his back.
"You have the right to remain silent,
if you give up that right I'll break your nose." She grabbed him and
pulled him roughly to his feet before turning around to inspect the ship.
Cameo frowned, normally good natured he was
still a Lunatak and now he was pissed. "Let me go!" he roared.
"I guess I'll have to add resisting
arrest." She sneered.
One of the lines of rope slipped across
Cameo's wrist just in-front of the hidden blades, a small snick was all Mandora
heard before the Lunatak was on her.
Under the Lunataks weight she landed face
first on the floor. "Let me go!" She snapped. "I'm a cop."
Cameo smacked her in the back of the head
and spit in it. "You're a self righteous vigilante and a xenophobe to
boot!"
"Get off of me!" Mandora shrieked.
"Your under arrest!"
"Look's like you're the prisoner."
A blade snapped out and back close to her face. "Now what should I do
with?" He mused. "Wait I know." He opened the little pouch of
moon dust and poured it on her. "One dose wont addict a human but it's
effective." He thought as her eyes glazed over.
Placing her carefully on her bike he
programed a random course and let her go, with luck another cop would find her
speeding and stoned.
"Computer, close the door raise shields
and head for that planet."
"Compliant."
* * *
"Lion-O come quick!"
"What is it WilyKat?" The young
lord asked rushing over.
"A Lunatak ship just hit the
atmosphere!"
"Great Jaga, radio Mandora, tell her we
need help catching the new Lunatak."
WilyKat looked up concerned. "I can't
raise her Lion-O. I know she should be nearby. She runs her patrol route on a
tight schedule."
Lion-O frowned. "Looks like we'll need
help then. Thunder, thunder, Thundercat's, Ho!!"
"What is it Lion-O?" Tygra
demanded as everyone rushed in.
"We've got a new Lunatak, he just entered
the atmosphere and we can't raise Mandora. We can't let him reach the others,
who knows what their planning."
"Let's go!" Panthro shouted, a few
minuets later the ThunderTank roared across the landscape.
* * *
The ship's computer was able to land automatically
but above all Cameo loved to fly and landed himself as a matter of principle.
"Nice place." he remarked looking
around. "Might as well take a look around." Switching the main
systems to stand by he opened the hatch.
"Well its green." He mused looking
around, a hawk flew overhead causing him to smile. He admired the raptors, such
easy and grace when they flew, not like ducks who could fly for hours on end.
No it was the birds of prey that called to his soul, little pilots perfectly
designed.
"I could get to like it here."
His gaze snapped around when he heard a
white tank roaring toward him.
"Stop Lunatak!" The driver shouted
vaulting from the vehicle. "I'm Lion-O lord of the ThunderCats."
"I'm Cameo, no title just Cameo."
"What are you doing here?" The
tone wasn't friendly and the others had left the vehicle and flanked him.
"Standing here presently, I was looking
at an incredible hawk but he's gone now. What are you doing here."
"Protecting our home from
Lunataks!" WilyKat snapped.
"The little one has a big mouth."
Cameo remarked.
Lion-O Shrugged. "Your our prisoner,
come along peacefully until we can get Mandora."
"You mean the blond who think's she's
god of the space ways?" Cameo rolled his eyes. "She already tried to
arrest me for being a Lunatak."
"Where is she?" Panthro growled.
"No clue, hopefully being questioned
about the moon dust I threw at her."
"Ho!" Lion-O roared leveling the
sword at Cameo, but it didn't fire.
"Come again?"
"Ho!!" Again the sword balked.
"That's what I thought you said. Boy
what inhospitable people." The Lunatak muttered turning to enter his ship.
A fire ball erupted stopping him.
"Shit!" He dropped to the ground.
"Would you knock it off?"
"Not likely." Panthro grunted
charging.
* * *
At SkyTomb Redeye looked up from the
sensor's startled. "Luna, come over here."
"What is it Redeye?" Te diminutive
Lunatak ask directing Amok over.
"I've detected a Lunatak ship, but the
ThunderCats have him surrounded. Should we help him?"
Luna paused thoughtfully. "Yes, let's
help him. He may be useful."
The flying fortress lifted off and began
making its way toward the ThunderCats.
* * *
"Give up Lunatak!" Cheetara
shouted zooming around him.
"I can't give up!" Cameo shouted,
she was two fast to see let alone hit. "I haven't done anything!"
"Then why are you here?" WilyKit
demanded.
"Cause my mom slept with my dad!"
He snapped, finally realizing there was no reasoning with these people. Blades extended
he ran for his ship, the cat's had slowly forced him away from it.
"Oh no you don't!" Tygra said. The
invisible cat tackled him.
"Yes I do." Cameo grunted swinging
his arm at the tiger, his hand fell short but his blade didn't.
"Ah!" Tygra yelled turning visible
holding a badly cut hand.
The others rushed to surround Cameo.
"You hurt Tygra." WilyKat accused.
"Well he tripped me." Cameo said
exasperated.
"You'll pay for that." Panthro
growled.
Laser fire strafed the ground causing
everyone to duck. "He'll be rewarded for that!"
"Lunataks!" Lion-O swore angrily.
"ThunderCats!" Luna mocked.
"Lunatak pilot, get in your ship and
follow us, we'll cover you."
"Any port in the storm." Cameo
muttered and ran inside his ship, he didn't worry about the computer just
hopped in his chair and closed the hatch and activated the shield.
"Computer lock on the large flying..um building, match course and
speed."
"Compliant."
"Lunatak thing, this is Cameo inside
the Lunar star, thanks for the assist, lead the way.
