Have you ever noticed how certain characters from cartoons seem to resemble or have unusual similarities to each other, even though their shows have nothing to do with one another? Okay, maybe you haven't, but I'm weird (obsessed?) enough to admit that I have! I'm not the only one either. Some of you long-time Thundercats fandom veterans may remember that ex-Professor Jackalmann once wrote a comprehensive thesis on his belief that the Lunatacs were really from the Rocky Horror Picture show. But those aren't the only compelling similarities among seemingly unrelated characters out there. Here are the fruits of my own research: characters that must have been separated at birth!
Alluro and Riot
Similarities:
Alluro: Can hypnotize people with his charming, sexy, soothing voice.
Riot: Can hypnotize people with his charming, sexy, soothing voice.
Alluro: Has an unbelivably huge ego.
Riot: Has an unbelievably huge ego.
Riot: Has strange fasion sense, such as wearing garter belts on his arm or
pirate vests with spandex pants.
Alluro: Has strange fashion sense, such as wearing a loincloth and long johns with
cowboy boots.
Riot: Has long, big hair.
Alluro: Has long hair which might very well be big if he wasn't going
bald.
Riot: Believes he should rule rock'n'roll.
Alluro: Believes he should rule the galaxy.
Chilla and Roxy
Similarities:
Chilla: Has white hair and weird makeup.
Roxy: Has white hair and weird makeup.
Chilla: Is the toughest and most ruthless of the Lunatacs.
Roxy: Is the toughest and most ruthless of the Misfits.
Chilla: Allows an obnoxious leader to boss her around for reasons we can't
quite understand.
Roxy: Allows an obnoxious leader to boss her around for reasons we can't
quite understand.
Luna and Pizzazz
Similarities:
Luna: Is the loudmouthed, shrill-voiced, bossy, and arrogant leader of the
Lunatacs.
Pizzazz: Is the loudmouthed, shrill-voiced, bossy, and arrogant leader of
the Misfits.
Luna: Throws temper tantrums when she doesn't get her way.
Pizzazz: Throws temper tantrums when she doesn't get her way.
Luna: Spouts a lot of threats and orders, and has her loyal Amok back her
up.
Pizzazz: Spouts a lot of threats and orders, and has her rich Daddy back her
up.
Vultureman and Techrat
Similarities:
Vultureman: Invents a lot of things that don't work and/or blow up.
Techrat: Invents a lot of things that don't work and/or blow up.
Vultureman: Feels that no one appreciates his brilliant genius.
Techrat: Feels that no one appreciates his brilliant genius.
Vultureman: Is uptight and freaks out if the Mutants mess around with his
stuff.
Techrat: Is uptight and freaks out if the Misfits mess around with his
stuff.
Alluro and Looten Plunder
Similarities:
Alluro: Has long hair and is going bald.
Looten Plunder: Has long hair and looks like he's in denial about going bald.
Alluro: Doesn't have the greatest fashion sense (see entry above).
Looten Plunder: Also doesn't have the greatest fashion sense (see picture above).
TugMug and Hoggish Greedly
Similarities:
TugMug: Has a mohawk and a weight problem.
Hoggish Greedly: Has a mohawk and a weight problem.
TugMug: Is rumored to be the filthiest of the Lunatacs.
Hoggish Greedly: Is rumored to be the filthiest of the Eco-Villians.
RedEye and Duke Nukem
Similarities:
RedEye: Is built like an olympic weightlifter.
Duke Nukem: Is built like an olympic weightlifter.
RedEye: Can see in the dark.
Duke Nukem: Glows in the dark.
RedEye: Wears weird-ass shorts.
Duke Nukem: Wears weird-ass shorts.
Jerrica and Dr. Blight
Similarities:
Jerrica: Has a super-computer named Synergy that can think for itself.
Dr. Blight: Has a super-computer named Mal that can think for itself.
Jerrica: Converses with her computer on a regular basis.
Dr. Blight: Converses with her computer on a regular basis.
Dr. Blight: Uses her computer to do evil things.
Jerrica: Uses her computer to lie to her boyfriend.
What the heck? You've gone totally bonkers! Take me back to the Thundercats Zone!
